EA and Microsoft celebrated the announcement with a very tongue-in-check Twitter exchange. Both companies are preparing for next gen with the launch of next gen consoles only a couple of months away, so the announcement of EA and Microsoft partnering up is only good news for fans of both companies.

Microsoft has had to quickly reorganize amidst leaks of the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X details on Twitter. Though there were rumors of a new event being held in August detailing the price, date, and specs of both consoles, no such event took place. Details of the Series S were reported online frustrating some employees of the company.
EA has several games in development for next gen consoles including a new Battlefield game, Skate 4, and a new Dragon Age title.
Earlier this year, EA brought over EA Play to Steam allowing Steam users to use the service through the video game digital distribution service. The move is part of EA’s attempt to re-brand and push the struggling brand formerly known as EA Access. Subscribers to the service get several benefits regarding EA titles such as 10% off any they purchase through Steam while subscribed to EA Play.
Meanwhile Microsoft has had a busy couple of days with the official announcement of the Xbox Series S. The all-digital console will release on November 10 2020 at $299 USD. The console itself isn’t as powerful as the Xbox Series X, however, it will still be able to play next gen games. The internals of the Xbox Series S have managed to impress several developers stating despite its lower specs, it packs quite a punch.
On top of confirming the existence of the Series S, Microsoft has also confirmed the price and cost of its big brother, the Xbox Series X. The next gen console is quite beefy, with 4K Gaming capabilities, support for up to 120 FPS, and a 1TB Custom SSD. Releasing the same day as the Series S, The Xbox Series X will launch at $499 USD.
