Rahjin is one of four Patrons in Tales of Tribute that are not given to players after finishing the introductory quest for the new Elder Scrolls Online card game. To unlock Rahjin, the Purring Liar for use, you must complete the Lady Laurent and Stibbons quest found near the end of the main High Isle storyline.

Rajhin, the Purring Liar, is not a mortal like the other Tales of Tribute Patrons. In fact, he is the trickster Thief God of the Khajiit. He ascended to Godhood after stealing the Ring of Khajiiti from the Daedric Prince Mephala while they made love - if that’s not an origin story fit for the God of Thieves, nothing is.
His Patron ability lets players put a useless Bewilderment card in their opponent’s Cooldown pile, which will be shuffled into their deck, for 3 Coin. It’s not a directly useful ability, but if you have nothing else to spend the money on, it’s better than doing nothing. Over time it can severely hinder your opponent’s ability to trigger high-tier combos.
Best Cards And Combos in the Rajhin Deck
The Rahjin Tales of Tribute deck revolves around controlling your opponent’s side of the table more than your own. Rahjin cards reduce your enemy’s Prestige total, make them discard at the start of their turn, and generally work to spin the odds in Rahjin’s favor no matter how far behind he is - as long as you can get Combo abilities off regularly. The best cards in the Rahjin deck are pricey, so it can take some time to build up enough steam to noticeably affect your opponent. Card draw abilities in the deck, and deck-thinning Destroy effects, can help get you there quicker.

The Moonlit Illusion spell is just like the Ragpicker Contact card and can help you draw useful cards more often, and it also has a Combo 3 Prestige-reducing effect. Ring’s Guile is another Contract card that forces your enemy to discard and Combos into card draw and even discards. Twilight Revelry has four Combo tiers for controlling the field, and the Prowling Shadow Agent is weak but cheap and helps trigger combos.
Strategies And Synergies With Other Patrons
Rahjin is an interesting Patron as his cards don’t necessarily enhance other strategies. Instead, other Patrons help to enhance the unique abilities that Rahjin’s deck offers. His cards have high combos and require a pretty dedicated deck to fully max its potential. To max Rahjin Combos, try mixing in Duke of Crows, Frandar Hunding, or Psijic Loremaster Celarus cards to sort through your draw pile and get the cards you want ready for next turn.
The best Patron to pair with Rahjin is arguably Hlaalu, though because pulling off large Combos regularly is so important to the deck, deck-manipulating Patrons like Psijic Loremaster Celarus or Red Eagle, King of the Reach are great too.
The Hlaalu deck is rife with ways to build lots of Gold, and Rahjin’s Patron ability costs a decent-sized 3 to use. If you have nothing else useful to spend Gold on, filling your opponent’s deck with useless Bewilderment cards is a great way to take advantage of this extra income. Celarus cards let ESO Players look ahead and discard cards you don’t need to your Cooldown, while Red Eagle completely removes cards from your deck. By getting rid of competing colors and even the basic Gold cards, you can ensure more Combos on each turn - as long as you have enough cards.
