The vast arsenal of weaponry available to the player in Elden Ring is one of its most compelling aspects, enabling an expansive variety of play styles that can keep the experience fresh even after several journeys through the Lands Between. Some of these, such as the Claymore and Zweihander, have featured in previous FromSoftware games but they are expected inclusions for a predominantly melee-focused combat system. However, the Dark Moon Greatsword is Elden Ring’s rendition of an iconic weapon that has been a staple of FromSoftware releases for the past decade, albeit not for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

But there are so many beloved weapons from Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and even Armored Core that would be incredibly fun to try out in Elden Ring, a fact confirmed through a thread started by MightyJefro22X on Reddit. The most popular suggestion at the time of writing is a Missile Launcher from Armored Core, FromSoftware’s third-person mech shooter that could not deviate further from Elden Ring. It is safe to say that even Malenia would not be capable of withstanding such a devastating blow.
One commenter had a weapon they wished to steal from each Dark Souls installment, which included the Greatsword of Artorias, the “Chicken Drumstick,” and Friede’s Great Scythe. The “Chicken Drumstick” refers to Dark Souls 2’s Smelter Hammer and has players arguing to this day if it resembles a drumstick or wing more. Some suggestions were meant more as memes than anything else, such as the rather self-explanatory Giant Door Shield from Dark Souls 3.
Bloodborne fans will earnestly argue for its Trick Weapons to be included in every game and this thread was no exception. Under each Saw Cleaver or Kirkhammer were those pushing for any Bloodborne weapon to make the cut which, while perhaps a little excessive, would certainly bring a whole new dynamic to Elden Ring’s combat. Although the hopes and dreams shared will likely not manifest in FromSoftware’s magnum opus, fans can take solace in knowing that new weapons are almost certainly on the way eventually.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
