Strength is another crucial attribute in Elden Ring as it allows players to wield heavy armaments and inflict more damage with each attack. Many gamers choose Strength as their main characteristic and build their entire character around it, like using a colossal weapon and heavy armor. Strength builds are not the most popular among Elden Ring fans, as some believe they’re not suitable for agile and fast bosses like Malenia or the Black Knife Assassins. One Elden Ring player debunked this theory by defeating Malenia with a strength build.

Reddit user No-Beginning-2453 uploaded a video on the social media platform showing their fight with Malenia, arguably the strongest boss in Elden Ring. The player is wielding two different colossal swords in each hand, a common characteristic of strength builds in Elden Ring. The video begins when the user defeats Malenia’s first phase by performing a jump attack from both swords, triggering her Goddess of Rot phase. They evade Malenia’s first attack by dodging at the right time before going on the offensive.

The deciding factor in this fight is No-Beginning-2453’s preferred Ash of War, Flame of The Redmanes, one of the most powerful in PvE after the latest patch. Soon after dodging, they perform the aforementioned Ash of War, break Malenia’s poise, stagger her, and land a critical hit. This puts a severe dent in Malenia’s health bar, which is nearly half at this point. The user continues their relentless assault on the Elden Ring boss with another Flame of The Redmanes hit, causing her to stagger again and perform a devastating critical hit. They repeat the process one final time, ultimately killing Malenia as she prepares for her famous Waterfowl Dance skill.

As seen in the video,, Flame of The Redmanes is currently one of the best Ashes of War in Elden Ring for melee players. It is very effective for breaking an enemy’s poise, enabling an opening for gamers to perform a critical hit.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
