This latest clip comes courtesy of Reddit user No_Salary_4715, who posted the short video to the Elden Ring subReddit, specifically under the humor tag. So, even the original player is a good sport about how this fight went, with the summoned adversary seeming to leap up from beyond a death plane in order to land a victory.

In the video, the player can be seen fighting against a randomly summoned enemy from the Great Jar encounter, with the build of the adversary being based on one of Elden Ring’s online PVP players. However, in order to attempt to cheese this adversary and beat the enemy easily, the player stands on one of the roots that extends out past the cliff side where the fight takes place. While the intention is to have the enemy fall off the cliff while aiming for the player, the result is that the adversary actually jumps back onto the root and knocks the player to their death.
The original strategy being shown in the video is one of several popular ways to cheese these enemies for the Great Jar encounter by tricking them or forcing them off the cliff with spells like the Aspect of the Crucible Incantations. What makes this specific situation so strange and comical for players familiar with Elden Ring’s movement is the way the adversary managed to jump from what should have been its death up to the root where the player waited. A jump like the one shown normally wouldn’t be possible, even when considering the leaps capable of weapon arts like the Wolf’s Assault that the enemy is using. So, it almost looks like the game saw the cheesing and decided to respond in kind.
This type of glitchy behavior from enemies in Elden Ring is nothing new for players that have continued to put hours into the game. That isn’t to say that FromSoftware didn’t put the game together well enough by launch, but more that the large scale and scope of this latest title makes glitches more common than with smaller projects. Still, moments like this where a player is killed by a strange bit of movement can be partly frustrating and partly humorous for both the player and anyone who might come across the clip.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

FromSoftware is an expert at making challenging games like the Dark Souls series and Sekiro, but Elden Ring takes it a notch further. Players have spent hundreds of hours trying to beat tough Elden Ring bosses like Malenia, Alecto, and Crucible Knight. On the other hand, some players like Let Me Solo Her have defeated Malenia numerous times.

Many gamers have tried cheesing Malenia using the Pizza cutter weapon, which has proved quite effective. However, cheese methods don’t always go as planned, as one Elden Ring player found out. Reddit user Highsenberg199774829 uploaded a video on the platform showing their attempts to cheese a regular enemy known to give players a tough time. The Redditor came across a spectral variant of the Banished Knight and planned to cheese him by using the “Ancient Lightning Spear” weapon from a distance. The user saw some initial success as they managed to strike the Knight a couple of times.
Unfortunately, Highsenberg199774829’s plans didn’t come to fruition as the Banished Knight spotted the player and began approaching. The Redditor initially presumed themselves to be safe and out of reach but was taken aback and shocked to see the Knight teleporting instantly to their location. The user then flees to save themselves but is quickly followed by the enemy, who kills them with a ferocious attack. The video amused the Elden Ring community, and the post was well received as it got more than 1700 upvotes. Many people posted humorous comments, implying that the original poster cheesed themselves.
Highsenberg199774829’s video shows them in Castle Sol which has many other enemies like wolves, the Bladed Talon Eagle, the Lion Guardian, and another spectral foe called Castle Guard. Players generally visit Castle Sol on their way to face Commander Niall, an optional boss who drops runes and other useful items.
It should also be noted that the spectral Banished Knight in Highsenberg199774829’s video is not a boss but a regular enemy that makes life difficult for many gamers. The Knight’s ability to teleport behind the player makes it one of the most annoying Elden Ring enemies that can be harder than a few bosses.
Elden Ring is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
