Morgan Freeman is renowned worldwide for his numerous performances and storied career, with many who adored his portrayal of God in Bruce Almighty. The depiction is likely inspired by the film, where an unlucky TV reporter, played by Jim Carrey, decries God for this supposed injustice, who then bestows him with godly powers in an attempt to humble him. Freeman’s execution of the character is beloved, making Elden Ring’s pantheon of deities an appropriate place to insert him.

In a short video uploaded by u/DaddyWhoGames, there is a montage of screenshots capturing their interpretation of the great actor, donning nothing but the Cloth Garb and Cloth Trousers from Elden Ring’s litany of armor pieces. When casting Golden Order incantations, an incredibly apt choice, a GIF shows the Freeman role-play transition into wearing the Tree Sentinel armor set, making him extremely better protected for battle relative to his movie counterpart. The wings imposed behind him, representing those of an angel, are a welcome touch to the wholesome design.

Other than for slightly uncanny eyes, the character model is rather accurate. It is tradition in the community to craft unique, wacky, and often hideous player characters, and is often done for challenge runs, where a naked and seemingly deformed Tarnished will gather every shard of the Elden Ring with nothing but their bare fists and a deficiency in levels. When players are not determined to push the character creator to the extreme, but instead take inspiration from existing media, wonderful depictions such as Kratos from God of War and the Gigachad viral meme are birthed.

Soulsborne titles are valued for their ability to be replayed and for the experience to be enhanced because of it. Often, once a game has been finished, gamers will not miss out on much if they were to move on, but with Elden Ring and FromSoftware’s previous releases, so much enjoyment can be extracted from equipping different weapons, testing out new skills, and even role-playing. The character creator is the root of role-playing and variety for many players, and many in the community agree that the real endgame of Elden Ring and its predecessor Dark Souls, is fashion.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
